The Ellen MacArthur Trust specializes in taking young people recovering from cancer and leukemia to sea. The experience, for those in rehabilitation from leukemia and cancer, helps to build confidence, hope and assists with re-integration into life's activity often after extended hospitalization.
The number of young people that the Trust has taken to sea has doubled every year since its inception in 2004 and to continue increasing this valuable work the Trust needs your support. One of the best ways to demonstrate your support is by taking a table at the Charity Sailing Event of the year - the Ellen MacArthur Trust Ball.
This year the Ball has received an upgrade ( see 3GL News item ) as it is to be held at Queen Victoria's former residence - Osborne House - on the Isle of Wight. Scheduled for Monday 4th August the Ball falls within the Skandia Cowes Week event programme and will be host to over 600 people who include the gliteratti of the yachting community. Catering for corporate entertaining and individual guests the Ball mixes entertainment with the serious message of the Trust and set in the extra-ordinary surroundings of Osborne House with horse drawn carriages from the car park to the door ( including a short tour of the House ) the 2008 Ball promises to be the best in the event's history.
3GL announced the Ellen MacArthur Trust as their Official Charity of the Year and we are working with the Trust to better last years total raised by theBall of £78,000.
We are seeking companies and individuals who are able to donate spectacular auction prizes in the form of goods or services to assist the fundraising effort on the night. With a silent auction ( with PDA bidding screens ) and a main auction as the high spot of the evening - your donation will receive excellent profile at this prestigious event.
