Manchester Trafford Centre

The final event in the 1st phase of the KoS Azor Tour was held in front of the theatrical backdrop of the entrance to the Great Hall of the Trafford Centre in Manchester. In attendance was Beanius, the band supported by KoS who helped launch the Azor in London. They played a scorching set featuring the John Tracey track - Folly of Five which draws attention to the insanity of the proliferation of blades in the razor market and the advent of nonsensical vibrations and even lights promoted by other brands.

Beanius, led by Matt Bean ( from the IOW ) have taken a massive step in their musical careers as a result of the start given to them by King of Shaves. They now have their own website http://beanius.co.uk/ and a video filmed by www.evofilms.co.uk which has been showing on U-Tube now for a while. It is great to see young talent given the opportunity to perform.

The Tour has been an outstanding success. As a result there is now talk of extending the Azor Tour to Scotland and later using the bus to promote other brands in the KoS family of products. There have been hundreds of people shaved, thousands of Azors handed out, endless quality brand experiences delivered and a great deal of fun has been had along the way. Thanks go out to all the people who have made these events go with a swing and to Will King for the inspiration of his brand.

Birmingham City Centre
Birmingham City Centre played host to the amAzorbus for 2-days. With a mix of intense sampling, some keen participants in the Azor Guitar Challenge and more takers for the Azor Footie Game we staved off the storm clouds and still managed to deliver a stunning event.

Finsbury Avenue Square and No.1. Broadgate

The Azorbus found itself right in the heart of London's commercial sector with an event based in Finsbury Avenue Square just around the corner from No.1. Broadgate. We were pleasantly surprised to see how many traders found the time to get a shave or have a go on the Azor Footie game. We even had a few long term visitors to the Azor Guitar Challenge - things must be tough on the trading floors for the guys to have so much free time !!

Sheffield Motor Show
The amAzorbus went to Sheffield Motor Show where we saw some of the top scores on the Azor Guitar Challenge. We were also treated to some stunning stunt car and motor cycle driving by the display team. Numerous people were shaved and we were blessed with a star appearance from Shelley Rudman, Olympic Silver medalist in the Bob Skeleton at the last winter Olympics and sponsored up until the Vancouver Games in 2010 by King of Shaves. She was interviewed by MC Philip Brodie on the stage and gave us a valuable insight into her challenging sport.

Johnny and LisaShaving London HeadsNicky Clarke

Capital Radio with Johnny Vaughn and Lisa Snowdon

This was a charity event in aid of "Save a London Child". King of Shaves had put an invitation out for people to come and have their heads shaved for charity and over 350 people volunteered on the day. The event was covered live by Johnny Vaughn ( a long time supporter of the King of Shaves brand ) and Lisa Snowdon as part of the Capital Radio Breakfast Show.

The event raised more than £30k for charity but the spin off was maximum publicity for the brand and a huge plug for the Azor. Johnny shaved a few heads / Lisa shaved Johnny a job completed by Diane Wood our professional Barber from New York.

Record funds raised on the day came from a single trader from JP Morgan who had raised £7k on his own for this worthy cause. The day culminated in a veritable whose who of the men’s grooming world including a guest appearance from Nicky Clarke. Thanks go to the Shave School and the other barbers who volunteered to help us on the days ... thanks guys !!

Lowestoft, welcomed Will King back to his home town against the backdrop of the Red Arrows and the Blue Eagles display teams. The event also welcomed the Waverney Gymnastics Team who King of Shaves have sponsored for a number of years. We were dazzled by a stunning display of aerobatics by plane and gymnasts alike ... and the activity generated a huge amount of interest around the King of Shaves Battlebus.

Sedley Boots StoreSales Point in Store Diane Wood Saving in the Street

Azor Launch Day - Boots in Sedley Place, Oxford Street

The debut of the Azor in store was scheduled for 17th July 2008 and made use of the purpose built shaving stations as part of an activity in the window of the store. The store manager had already installed all the display units and with a bit of extra branding the stage was set for an exciting day. Diane Wood was the star of the early photo-call and managed to get some pictures in the evening papers ... the people on Oxford Street were a little bemused as to why we were shaving in the street but it certainly got some attention.

Next on the scene was the King of Shaves Battlebus which turned up right on queue and parked right outside the store. A bit of street theatre then erupted as King of Shaves Founder, Will King, took the megaphone to the hatch at the top of the bus where he spoke to the people of Britain about the "stealth shaving taxes of the two main competitors and expounded the positive features of the Azor".

Not content with that he commanded the bus to take to the streets and continued to regale the crowds with his shaving manifesto. It seems a wrong turn was taken and mistakenly we found ourselves outside Buckingham Palace much to the great interest of the crowds that were gathered there for the changing of the guard. The Tour proceeded around Trafalgar Square, Westminster and eventually found its way back to Oxford Street where the activities of the day had boosted 300 over sales of the Azor. The impact of the day was excellent and the combination of the window display, the bus tour and the energy of Will King contributed to make this a very special day.

Azor Launch at Boots Headquarters
The event was based in the main atrium at Boots HQ in Nottingham and made use of the stage we had purchased and the dedicated shaving stations that we had designed and built. Phil Brodie (MC) and Diane Wood the professional barber flown in by KoS from New York were wired for sound and we ran the activity for 5 hours in the middle of the day. Interest in the product was keen and we even had to extend the session to accommodate all the people waiting for a shave.

Beanius at The PloughBeanius KoS BBQ
Beanius at KoS BBQ at The Plough Inn
When we were seeking a venue for the inaugural event of the King of Shaves Battlebus Tour it seemed natural to approach the star of the King of Shaves Skyshave, Sam, who owns and runs the Plough Inn at Wynchmore Hill, Nr Amersham in Cheshire. With a bit of creative work on the fenceline and a rapid erection of the external PA system the "stage" was quite literally set for the first outside gig for Beanius the band supporting the amAzorbus Tour. A good turn out of over 100 KoS staff and local residents helped to ensure that the event went with a swing ... and on a professional footing it gave us a chance to check out all the bus systems in a live event and ensure that the complicated electrical systems were all OK.

This event also saw the unveiling of the King of Shaves Battlebus prepared by 3GL in conjunction with Romsey Coaches and Phoenix Busing.
