Overseas Projects

In his years of management David Green has been responsible for establishing and overseeing the development of a number of overseas operations:

UKSA Barbados Back to Top

UKSA’s base for 8 years in the Caribbean was developed and managed by David. Establishing the UKSA in Barbados required a delicate combination of sensitivity to local issues and investment in the local sailing community. He took the operation to a peak of nearly 10,000 daypersons before the decision was made to relocate to Australia.

  • Government liaison.
  • Training of local instructors.
  • Work with local schools.
  • Risk assessment and management in full on watersports environment.

UKSA Australia Back to Top

As a Director of UKSA Australia David handled all the initial approaches to the Australian government and negotiated the original set-up at the Mooloolaba Yacht Club in Queensland. UKSA Australia is now in its 4th year of successful operation and there are plans laid for future expansion.

  • Government help and assistance.
  • Local PR.
  • Import duty and taxes.
  • Local laws and regulations.
  • Equipment purchase and set-up.
  • Negotiations for the “base” and rights to operate in the area.

UKSA Abu Dhabi Back to Top

After an initial period of consultancy David was able to establish a new National Centre in Abu Dhabi in conjunction with the Emirates Heritage Club. The consultancy covered a wide range of options including the development of a National Sailing Team with hopes one day of Olympic success. To help secure RYA recognition David arranged for the placement of a senior coach from the UK to assist with the early stages of the development and the project has proceeded smoothly in accordance with the development plan.

  • Plans for the building of a new centre.
  • Consultation on the craft and purchasing.
  • Standard operating procedures.
  • Training of the staff to instructor level.
  • Applications for RYA Recognition.
  • Structuring the National Scheme.
  • Work towards an Olympic Sailing Team.
