Ball in Skandia
Cowes Week

3GL announced the Ellen MacArthur Trust as their Official Charity for 2007 back in November last year and since then we have been working with Frank Fletcher and the EMT Team to make the 2007 Ellen MacArthur Trust Ball in Skandia Cowes Week the Gala Event of the year. In close co-operation with the Ball Committee we have been approaching sponsors with a view to supporting the event. We have also been working on the auction prizes and encouraging companies to donate major items to raise money on the big night. In return for this they can get an entry in the Ball Programme, their company logo on the big screen and exposure to nearly 400 of the top names in the boating business. We at 3GL would like to take this opportunity to thank those that have supported EMT this year - we look forward to seeing you on the night.

Ellen MacArthur

3GL have just announced that they will be continuing their support by making the Ellen MacArthur Trust their Official Charity again for 2008 and will continue to work to raise funds for this extra-ordinary organisation. Of all the Charities in the maritime sector the Ellen MacArthur Trust does some of the best work. With a very small team of Professionals and some very low overheads almost every penny that is raised goes into funding the work with young people.

The Ellen MacArthur Trust specializes in taking young people recovering from Cancer and Leukemia to sea. It charters boats from a number of Ellen MacArthur Trust other organizations and using professional skippers and a number of dedicated youth workers provides a vehicle for these young people to help rebuild their lives. The transformation that can occur from one of these trips is phenomenal and Dan, who first sailed with the Trust in 2004 having just recovered from Leukemia, has gone on to get his yachtmaster and dreams of sailing Transatlantic and ultimately around the Globe. To inspire this much drive and enthusiasm in young people who have lost so much is a real triumph.

Anyone who is interested in learning more about the Trust and perhaps even supporting their work should visit their website or contact us and we can put you in touch with the EMT Team:
